Thepharak District : ウィキペディア英語版 | Thepharak District
Thepharak ((タイ語:เทพารักษ์)) is a district (''Amphoe'') in the northwestern part of Nakhon Ratchasima Province. ==History== Originally, ''Tambon ''Samnak Takhrau was part of ''Tambon'' Pan Chana, Dan Khun Thot district. On April 1, 1995 the Interior Ministry separated ''Tambon'' Samnak Takhrau, Nong Waeng and Bueng Prue to create the new minor district (''King Amphoe'') Samnak Takhrau. Luang Phau Khun, a monk of ''Wat'' Ban Rai, proposed to change the name to Theparak. As the minor district is located near the districts Thep Sathit and Si Thep. As both districts contain the word ''Thep'' meaning ''angel'' (Deva), the minor district is thus protected by angels. The government followed this suggestion and renamed to minor district to Theparak. Following a decision of the Thai government on May 15, 2007, all of the 81 minor districts were to be upgraded to full districts. With the publishing in the Royal Gazette on August 24 the upgrade became official.
